Autumn 1942 Britain has been at war with the combined Axis powers for three difficult years.
After a grim battle for air superiority, the RAF have finally achieved air dominance and put a stop to the devastating Luftwaffe raids. And yet, while the good people of Britain can at least rest a little easier at night, the German fronts continue to advance in both Russia and Africa, and there are rumours of advancements in technology within its scientific divisions which could radically alter the balance of power.
Looking out over the Chess valley stands the imposing red brick ancestral seat of the Cavendish family: Latimer House. Originally requisitioned for the war effort back in 1940 and home to the IV corps, the house is thought to be nothing more than a supply depot.
However, Latimer House hides a secret known only to Churchill and selected others within the intelligence services. The imposing building is the latest in a chain of three intelligence establishments whose sole purpose is to provide the information needed for Churchill to win the war.
Hidden within an extensive top secret refurbishment of the property are millions of pounds worth of specialist listening and recording equipment which make it possible for teams of secret listeners to eavesdrop on conversations between captured German officers.
Understandably, security at Latimer is tight. No unauthorised personnel are permitted within the grounds and visitors are carefully checked in and out.
The discovery of a dead body in the early hours of Friday the 13th November is of massive concern to everyone at the base.
The killer can only be someone working at Latimer with full access to the site.

The hotel is set in a picturesque location ideal for those who enjoy rambling, or you may choose to spend some time in the other facilities, which have all been installed since its wartime role. A trip into central London is also not outside the realm of possibilities, as the Metropolitan line is just 7 minutes taxi ride away.

The Weekend
This murder mystery starts nearly a month earlier than your arrival as you will be sent a dossier on your character for the weekend.
This dossier will provide you with some background on your role at Latimer, why you’re there, and also some facts which ONLY YOU KNOW which you will be able to use to trade information with the other guests during the weekend.
If you want to come in character for the weekend – feel free! Fancy dress is not compulsory but is encouraged. However if you’d prefer to be casual and wear modern dress, you can.
You will arrive on Friday evening, check in to the hotel and find your room. We promise it’s not bugged!
Earliest check-in is 3pm, and if you want to make full use of the facilities we suggest you to arrive early.
To allow time for later arrivals, the mystery officially begins at 19:00 hours when you will be invited to join us for reception drinks and canapes in the Cavendish Suite. Soon after this you will be taken through to a 3-course dinner where you will get the chance to meet our full cast of suspects.
With a murder on the grounds tensions are high and given the nature of the work at Latimer no one is quite what they appear.
Breakfast is served between 7.30am – 10.30am. During the morning you will be able to review evidence discovered during the night.
Feel free to enjoy the facilities at the hotel during Saturday. Tea and coffee are available free throughout the day from the Cavendish bar where you will be able to meet your other fellow sleuths and discuss the case.
For those familiar with our Cosykiller weekends, it may not surprise you that there is another puzzle running behind the scenes during your stay which may take some solving. You may also want to book into an optional team challenge just to see how good you are at puzzle solving.
Lunch provides another opportunity to meet with the main suspects and exchange information.
Between meals the time is yours to enjoy. The hotel is set in a picturesque location, ideal for those who enjoy rambling. Alternatively you may choose to spend some time in the other facilities. A trip into central London is also not outside the realm of possibilities, as the Metropolitan line is just 7 minutes taxi ride away.
Just be sure to return in time for your evening meal on Saturday night where there is another chance for you to meet the suspects and hopefully come to some conclusions as to who committed the crime and why before the final solution is revealed.

Sunday breakfast is entirely yours to enjoy at your leisure. Make the most of your stay and enjoy some rest and relaxation now the murder is solved.

We will provide you with everything you need to know. You can role-play as much or as little as you like this weekend. We won’t push you outside your comfort zone.
